Marie is dyslexic and cleans for the wealthy von Schermann family. Her mother Greta, who suffers from dementia, has just scared off her carer and her son Niklas has to travel with his wife. Marie decides to help out for a few days. While the two women get to know each other and explore Greta's past together, Marie's husband, police officer Dirk, sulks. But businessman Niklas has also made a mess of things. When his wife leaves him, he discovers Marie's charms.

LISE is a cinematic opera encounter – a hybrid between recorded concert and film – with soprano Lise Davidsen, the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra and conductor Edward Gardner. Viewers get to experience Lise Davidsen in the roles of three strong women from Richard Strauss’ operas: the Marschallin (from Der Rosenkavalier), Arabella and Ariadne, all created by the composer who is particularly famed for his writing for the soprano voice. The three women are at different stages of life, but all reflect on who they are, where they are going, and what they have become: ‘This I still must find: the young woman that I was’ says the mature Marschallin, while the young Arabella wonders what or who she is really longing for and Ariadne longs to lose herself in order to find what has been lost. The WW2 romance drama follows the Giraud family, who take over a hairdressing salon after their father's death. Marie, a French Resistance heroine, takes care of the salon and brings clients to the son. However, Lise enters their lives, disrupting their order and causing a love story.

Lise is a Parisian prostitute who has a young son, Sebastien. Lise dotes on her boy, who has a gift for music and sings in a children's choir directed by aging parish priest Father Andre. Sebastien becomes involved in an auto accident that sends him into a coma; after he remains unconscious for three months, Lise begins to panic, desperate for a remedy that medical science can't provide. When she is told of a field in a village in rural France where a miracle is said to have occurred some years before -- an apparition of the Virgin Mary arrived to provide food for a group of starving children -- Lise wants to travel to the site of the miracle to pray for her son. She also insists that Father Andre come along, but the priest is not eager to go, due to his age, his health, and his increasing cynicism about religion. Lise is persistent, however, and before long the two are on the road in search of a much-needed miracle.

The series deals with the madness of our minds in a comical and quite exaggerated way, while the actors embody different types of characters.
